What is an "AU-PAIR" - and what does the job of an ‘AU-PAIR’ entail?
Would you like to spend some time living with a family in Germany? This could be either in a large city or in a smaller town, or even in the countryside. Becoming an "AU-Pair" offers this opportunity to young women over eighteen.

What does "AU-PAIR" really mean?
Being an "Au-Pair" means living at least six, but preferably twelve months with a German family. It enables a young woman to learn German and the German way of life. It also provides a general cultural background to the country and enhances later job prospects where knowledge of German is of importance.

What is expected of the "Au-Pair"?
An "Au-Pair" has to help the lady of the house with the daily chores and care of the children for five or six hours a day. She may also be asked to babysit twice a week.

What are the duties of the host family?
In return the host family provides board and lodging (own room), welcomes her as a family member, makes the attendance of classes at a language school possible, gives monthly pocket money and pays for her health insurance.

What are the Conditions for the job?

basic knowledge of German
basic knowledge of housekeeping
experience in dealing with children
Age between 18 to 24 years
the will to adapt to the mentality of the host family and the host country
